2021

What up peeps,

In the fashion of all things 2020-2021, the past two years have been been complicated, slow, and oddly beautiful in every imaginable way. I’ve been busy on many projects that I can’t yet post about on the interwebz, but some announcements over the past few months that I am very excited about are listed below. Wishing you all good vibes heading into the holiday season!

Peace and Love,

Holy Pandemic, Batman!

What’s up folks!

Like literally everyone else in our increasingly globalized society, I’ve lived my life on the inside for the past few months. However, since COVID-19 shuttered my Off-Broadway Premiere at MCC Theater and then shoved me into a tiny NYC apartment for the foreseeable future, I busied myself with a number of small projects that I’m very proud of. Many of them had time limits and are unfortunately behind paywalls and/or are at time-sensitive links, but each also represents a small slice of the voice I’ve found in these trying times. These efforts are listed below. In the case of many of them, a donation of support to the parent organization could support artists and non-artists alike in these trying times.

The Homebound Project:

I contributed two monologues in their first and second editions. Alison Pill performed DIVERSIONS, and Daveed Diggs performed HERE AND NOW. All our work was in support of No Kid Hungry.

MCC Theater’s LIVELAB One Acts:

I wrote a new one act play, WHEN, which was performed by Kecia Lewis and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy live on Youtube. It was directed by Taylor Reynolds.

PODCAST INTERVIEW:

I was interviewed by the wonderful Rachel Lin about my recent production of ALL THE NATALIE PORTMANS and writing in these trying times. Have a listen here, or wherever you routinely podcast.

Finally, I’ve been working hard to use my platforms for good these days, so if you’re looking for a place to put your rage about the state of this country and have the financial resources to help change lives, please consider donations to this awesome list of organizations:

MCC WORLD PREMIERE ANNOUNCED!

mcc art.png

Hey y’all,

Just a quick update to say that my play ALL THE NATALIE PORTMANS will be having its world premiere in MCC Theatre’s 2019-2020 season! It will be directed by Kate Whoriskey who’s been with the play since last summer at the 2018 Sundance Theatre Lab, and I can’t wait to see what we continue to build together!

Onwards!

Also, below you will find a peek at some of my favorite production photos from my Cherry Lane Mentor Project production of THE CLIMB which closed on April 13, 2019. So freaking proud of the work I did with my brilliant director Jenna Worsham and my insanely talented cast: Erin Anderson, Sharlene Cruz, Alex Hurt, and Renika Williams.

MENTOR PROJECT!

Hey peeps,

A bit late on this one, but still oh so proud to report that I’ve been chosen as a 18-19 Mentor Project fellow at Cherry Lane Theater. My mentor is Martyna Majok, and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to work with her on the THE CLIMB. We’ll spend the next few months working on the script, casting, and then going into production for a two-week run at Cherry Lane. I am delighted to be getting my first workshop production in NYC and hope it’s a sign of more to come!

You can learn more and buy tickets here! You should also be sure to check out the other two Mentor Project shows. Kareem Lucas and Matthew Paul Olmos round out this years fellows, so I couldn’t be part of a more talented crew.

Til the next bit of good news!
